July 18, 2025 Lunch - Vietnam 2000 No. 30 with Peter. Dinner - PPI White Bean Stew with rice

Another super day. I got my taxes filed, got my registration of my PAN, my Telephone number, and my e mail with MUFG from India that is a requirement for being paid my dividends and dematerialization of my shares in the Indian bank. A really big deal.

Suzette and I started the day with a walk around the block that helped me get to over 3700 steps.

When I returned Suzette went to her exercise class and I watched Stage 13 of the Tour de France, which was an uphill individual time trial.there were no real surprises, Pogacar won, Vinnegard came second and Evenroel came third.

Then I finished the letters to the LLC members and then went with Suzette to an Estate sale down the block to pick up two chairs she had purchased and some Christmas wreaths.

Then I drove to to post office to post the 14 certified letters to the LLC members. When I returned around 11:00  I reheated and ate my partially eaten chocolate croissant and drank a cup of chai.

Then around 11:30 Peter arrived with lunch. Peter was kind enough to pick up and deliver lunch from Vietnam 2000. We both ordered No. 30, my favorite summer dish, lettuce, mung beans sprouts and cucumber sticks on the bottom, boiled rice vermicelli in the middle and grilled marinated pork and fried pork egg rolls on top served with a sweetened fish sauce.

I made us each a Vietnamese iced coffee with a long coffee from our coffee machine, condensed milk, and ice.

Then we enjoyed a cool lunch under the twirling fan at the table in the TV room.

After lunch a drove to the post office to pick up a Speed Letter from Mumbai that turned out to be the registration of my PAN, my telephone number, and my email with the Indian government agency for such registrations. Wonderful news.

Then I drove to Shahin’s and we completed my taxes by 4:30.

I then drove home. We were both exhausted from our fast pace during the last few days, so we decided to stay at home and relax rather than attend the neighborhood cocktail party.

I made rice and a gin and tonic and Suzette heated the PPI White Bean Stew with chicken, celery, red bell pepper, and onion in a roux using the saffron powder brought back from Africa by the Blaugrunds and the bean broth.

It was another delicious dinner. I ate the rest of the leftover vermicelli noodles after dinner. Suzette took a second helping of the bean stew.

We watched the Guatemala episode of Someone is Feeding Phil and the Suzette went to bed and I sent the MUFG registration to the bank on India to try to free up my dividends. I blogged starting at 10:30 after a pleasant and eventful day.

To top it off although the Dow and S&P went down and the NASDAQ ended up only 10 points, my portfolio actual made a small gain.

Bon Appetit
