December 27, 2024 Lunch - Roast Beef Salad. Dinner - Chicken and Spanish Potatoes with Steamed Broccoli

I was still in bed when Billy and Elaine came over. They said goodbye and Luke and Ari drove them to the airport at around 9:00 and then picked up a rental car they will drive to L.A. today. While they were picking up their rental car, I toasted three slices per bagel for Suzette and me, spread them with cream cheese, and garnished them with onion and Gravad lax slices and capers. Suzette drank orange juice with her bagel and I drank green tea with my two slices.

When Ari and Luke returned they started loading their luggage and I cut and toasted and prepared three slices of another bagel for them with cream cheese, lax, onions, and capers.

After they ate they left around 10:30 and we were alone again.

I checked on my Roth contribution and caught up on the mail. Then at 12:45 I made a Roast beef and cheese salad with a diced tomato, thinly sliced onion, romaine lettuce, and chunks of beef and cheese.

I ate lunch as I watched the fixture between Ipswich and Arsenal, that Arsenal won in the heavy fog that seemed to slow the pace of the game down to a crawl for most of the match.

After lunch and the match at 3:00 I checked my portfolio and my hope for a end of year meltdown was in full swing with the NASDAQ down almost 300 points

I then began editing Bill and my combined draft and called Bill and we worked on the draft pleading for over 2 hours until after 5:00, when I took a walk around the block to get a few steps in for the day.

When I returned we discussed dinner and decided to combine the PPI roasted chicken and Spanish Potatoes from the Spanish baked fish dish of last Monday night. I wanted some broccoli, so I cut some flowerets off the remaining head and Suzette steamed them when she microwaved the potatoes and chicken.

I fetched the open bottle of Reichard German dry Riesling and filed glasses and we ate a pleasant instant meal.

During and after dinner we watched Bowl games. The best was the last, Texas A &M v.USC with both teams having unstoppable offensive attacks that led to a number of lead changes until USC got the ball with 1:48 minutes to go and flipped the lead for the last time by scoring the winning TD and a final score of 35 to 31.

At 11:30 I went to bed.

This holiday seemed to bring the family a bit closer together. Luke seemed happy with Ari, his new boyfriend, in a way that might be a lasting relationship and Billy and I may be moving closer together as we plan a trip together with Suzette and Elaine to Argentina next year..

Bon Appetit
