I met Ioana at Amerasia for dim sun. We had four dishes, steamed buns filled with pork and sweet bean paste, chopped wood ear and shitake mushroom stuffed deep fried tofu, beef and ginger filled dumplings, and beef and garlic deep fried dumplings, plus the gratuitous dessert of fried noodles dusted with powdered sugar.
We drank two pots of tea.
After lunch I rode to Rio Bravo along side an older man for a while.
I had shopped at Sprouts yesterday and bought 1.2 lb. of sea scallops for $9.99/lb. , green beans for $.99/lb., asparagus for $1.48/lb., and a lovely eggplant for $.50.
Tonight since we had a lovely new eggplant and sea scallops I suggested we make our favorite Chinese eggplant dish, Garlic Eggplant, from Lei’s Mastering the Art of Chinese Cooking”
We usually add ingredients to the basic recipe and tonight was no exception. We added a sliced medium onion, 8 stalks of asparagus tips, 1/3 lb. of green beans and six quartered Sea scallops to make a one dish dinner out of the murky brown sauced eggplant dish.
It was delicious because I had just bought all those fresh ingredients the day before. We ate all of it with gusto and washed it down with beer.
I made tea and thawed Swedish a punch roller each.
Bon Appetit
