I am beginning to think this recent food discourse is something that flows out of me naturally. Thanks to Suzette for encouraging me to write again.
I ate leftover posole for lunch and rode bike while Suzette finished up her management meeting. With the often early start of Trick or Treating at around in our neighborhood, we decided to not prepare a meal, so we micro-waved leftovers of Gourmet Mac and Cheese (See October 27) and Brussels Sprouts Casserole (See October 30 for recipe and discussion).
Suzette ate early and then, while Suzette watched for the early trick or treaters, I made a simple salad with organic greens, some diced leftover duck breast from Sunday evening’s dinner, sliced green onion, potatoes, and egg, dowsed with the last of the tarragon dressing. I ate the salad with two pieces of the lovely bread made by the Greenhouse Bakery for the October 23, 2011 Equestrian Event and a glass of leftover Tempranillo.
After that I ate a plate of mac and cheese with Brussels Sprouts Casserole and some Cranberry sauce and the Tempranillo.
Then we moved to the porch to hand out candy to all the little goblins and sip a leisurely cognac.
Because the BBC news had devoted a lot of coverage to the world population and the fact that today was deemed to be the day that the 7 billionth person was born, the question for this Halloween was, “How many people are there living on the Earth today?”. We got a surprising number of correct answers, although often with a few hints.
