July 22, 2025 Breakfast - Chocolate Croissant. Lunch - Mary and Tito’s Dinner - Fish Tacos with Rancho Gordo Black Bean and Mango Salad

July 22, 2025 Breakfast - Chocolate Croissant. Lunch - Mary and Tito’s   Dinner - Fish Tacos with Rancho Gordo Black Bean and Mango Salad

I got up at 4:00 and drafted a document until 6:00 and then watched a bit of the Stage 16 of the Tour that ended at the top of Mont Ventoux today.

I ate a chocolate croissant and before the peleton reached the base of the climb Suzette walked with me to the Country Club and back.

When I returned the lead riders were halfway up the Mountain but it takes an hour to climb the 22 km.s up the mountain.

A Frenchman won the stage by a few feet ahead of the Irishman And Tadej and Vingegaard were only 43 seconds behind.

It was a really unsatisfying stage win because most commentators thought either Tadej or Vingegaard should have closed that gap to win the stage.

I then worked at my desk and at 11:00 returned a book to the library, went to the post office, and then drove to Mary and Tito’s to eat lunch. Mary and Tito’s has become my favorite New Mexican restaurant. Soon after I sat down Joe Werntz walked in and I invited him to join me and we had a wonderful conversation.

We both ate an enchilada plate. Joe must be a regular because he simply ordered “His Usual.”

After lunch I drove to El Super where I bought orange juice, broccoli, lemons, mangos, a pineapple, a papaya, a cucumber, snow peas, yellow and red onions, fresh corn tortillas, and Brussels sprouts.

I returned home at 1:45 in time to watch the Market close. Nvda was hammered down $4.35 as I thought it would because Jeh Sen sold millions of shares. My portfolio dropped by .0078%, so it could have been worse. I moved my stop up on NVDA to try to prevent it forcing my portfolio below my new high. I am determined to avoid a decline of 16.65% in my portfolio that occurred earlier this year.

Then I rested and read a little at 3:00 and watched the Antiques Roadshow on TV until 6:00. Suzette came home at 4:00 and watched TV with her scotch cocktail in the TV room but I have been retreating into the bedroom where it is cooler on these hot days.

Dinner - Suzette thawed the thin slices of cod at 4:00 when she arrived and at 6:00 she sautéed them in olive oil and butter. She chopped several leaves of Napa cabbage and sliced an avocado and steamed eight corn tortillas suzette brought home some of Rancho Gordo black bean and mango salad the bistro is serving this week and we ate some of the salad with the two fish tacos each of us made with the sautéed cod fish, cabbage, a dollop of sour cream and slices of avocado in the warm tortillas.

The bean salad had a clean fresh flavor and the beans were toothsome.

After dinner Suzette walked an additional 2200 steps and I watched a repeat of my favorite show, Finding Your Roots, with a small glass of Gevenpy herbal liquor and cognac.

We went to bed at 9:00.

Bon Appetit
