November 3, 2019 Brunch – Breakfast Burritos Dinner – Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas and Peach and Blueberry Cobbler

November 3, 2019 Brunch – Breakfast Burritos  Dinner – Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas and Peach and Blueberry Cobbler

Another day of only two meals, but a lot of shopping.

We did not have a huge agenda today, but one thing developed after another in an interesting sequence of events.

We woke up around 7:30 and I was able to see Leicester win their match and go into third place in the PL. Bravo.

Then I watched the news until 10:00. After the news I started preparing brunch.  I wanted to make breakfast burritos with bacon.  We has five slices of bacon but only two eggs, so improvised. Ifried the bacon to crisp and chopped about two oz. each of yellow onion and pasilla chili, and a small baked potato.  Suzette came into the kitchen at this point and took over the stove top cooking.  While she sautéed the vegetables, I diced a tomato and the last four stalks of PPI steamed asparagus and sliced an avocado and fetched the crema.  Suzette finished the dish by adding the tomato and asparagus and then the eggs to the skillet and toasting flour tortillas over an open flame.  Suzette then spooned the sauté mixture onto the toasted tortillas and added the bacon slices.  We wrapped our tortillas around the stuffing and garnished our burritos with avocado slices and crema.

Suzette made a Bloody Mary and I drank Clamato juice flavored with fresh lime juice.

After breakfast we dressed and at 11:30 went shopping.  We first drove to Total Wine  arriving shortly after noon.  I bought a bottle of Berneroy XO Calvados for $29.99 and Suzette bought a 1.75 L. bottle of grain alcohol for making limoncello and two 1.75 L. bottles her favorite scotch and a six pack of ginger beer.

We then drove to Trader Joe’s where we bought a loaf of ciabatta and a wedge of Iberico cheese, plus 12 bottles of wine (2 Aquino Chianti Reserva, two bottles of Charles Shaw organic Pinot Noir, 1 bottle of Charles Shaw rose, a Famille Perrin Reserve White Cotes Du Rhône, two bottles of Origon Gran Reserva Spanish blend of Syrah and Tempranillo,  a bottle of Trader Joe’s Petit Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, a Chateau Roudier Red Bordeaux, and a couple more) and 1 bottle of French apple cider.

We then drove to Sprouts at Lima’s and San Mateo.  There were several sale items I wanted.  I bought matching salmon filets for Gravad Lax for $5.99/lb. plus two packages of fresh dill, baby portobello mushrooms, a frozen whole duck, eggs, butternut squash for soup at the Bistro, sweet onions, and thick sliced bacon for $2.99/lb.

When we returned home I peeled and coated with sugar three nectarines and then we worked in the garden pulling dead Cosmos plants and planting bulbs in the new bed on 15th St.

We then started watching TV: an exciting football game between the Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions, then the news, and then 60 Minutes.  Suzette heated the green chili chicken enchiladas and made more avocado crema, which we drank a Negra Modelo beer with.  After dinner Suzette made a
jiffy cobbler with the nectarine pieces and blueberries.  I also cut up a papaya and four ataulfo mangoes.  I will finish with oranges and a pineapple tomorrow to complete the tropical fruit salad.

We enjoyed cobbler after dinner while watching the Durrells in Corfu and Poldark.  At 9:00 we went to bed.  Suzette to sleep and I to blog.

Bon Appetit
