September 12, 2018 Lunch – Tabouli Salad. Dinner – El Patio

September 12, 2018 Lunch – Tabouli Salad. Dinner – El Patio

Today was Luke’s last day in Albuquerque.  He spent the night with a friend in the East mountains and went to Nob Hill at lunch to do some shopping. So II ate a tabouli salad for the second day in a row for lunch! With green cracked olives, a diced tomato, chunks of feta cheese, and about ¼ cucumber diced.

For breakfast I ate granola and fruit salad with yogurt and milk turned to sylt (the Swedish drink made from mixing milk with yogurt) by the enzyme action of the yogurt.

By about 8:00 in the evening Willy arrived and Luke was packed and asked to go to a New Mexican restaurant for his last supper before taking the plane to New York.

Willy drove us to Padilla’s, but it was closed.  I suggested El Patio and when we checked the schedule found it was open until 9:00,  so we went there.

We found an open table on  the patio and ordered.  Willy ordered ground beef taco, suzette ordered carne adovado tacos, luke ordered vegetarian enchiladas and I ordered beef enchiladas with double beans.

Our waiter apologized that the restaurant was out of sopapillas, but offered us flan or biscochiitos instead.  We ordered two flans.

We loved dinner in the warm evening air with a sliver of moon in the puffy clouded sky.

I think we all loved our food because we all ate heartily. I  have been going to El Patio since the early 80’s when my cousin, Elizabeth Simon and her husband Bucky Morris, later Dharma Da Mama Kaur and Singh, introduced me to El Patio’s delicious vegetarian enchiladas with guacamole.

After dinner we went home, said goodnight to Willy, and I took Luke to the airport for his overnight flight to a New York on Jet Blue.

Bon Appetit
