March 1, 2026 Breakfast - Bacon and Cheese Frittata. Lunch - Salad and Pork Sandwich. Dinner - Miso and Corona Bean stew with White Miso

I ate a slice of Pannatone with jam with a cup of tea as I watched soccer around 8:00 in the morning.

Then around 9:00 we prepped a new dish, a frittata made with fried bacon, cheddar cheese, eggs, cream, sautéed onion, shallot, and mushrooms, on a layer of thinly cut potato baked in the oven in a pie dish.

The result reminded me of Quiche Lorraine without the crust and Swiss cheese. It was delicious and I ate an extra slice.

We ate slices of the frittata under the gazebo with glasses of Gruet Rose Sauvage for a lovely first Al fresco meal of the

We then worked in the garden. Suzette from around 10:00 and I from Noon until 2:00

We then drove to Walgreens to buy bandaids and Lowe’s to buy a loaf of rye bread for sandwiches, avocados, Roma tomatoes, limes, and Club Soda

When we returned home around 3:00 I made a salad, with tomato, cucumber, a hard boiled egg, red onion slices, and romaine lettuce dressed with a Dijonnaise dressing.

Suzette cur thin slices of roast pork and Swiss cheese and made a pork, sauerkraut and cheese sandwich.

Suzette gave me 1/2 of the sandwich and I ate the salad. We shared a beer.

I then rested until 5:15 and we then walked around the block, but my breathing was rather labored. Still I walked almost 4000 steps today.

When we returned home Suzette wanted to make another new recipe of her creation, a bean stew using the cooked Corona Beans from Rancho Gordo Bean Club, with flounder and white miso.

She added a quart of water and a tsp. of dehydrated dashi to a quart of coked Corona Beans and thawed three flounder filets. We rolled, skewered, and tied the flounder filets with string. We smeared the filets with white miso and dissolved a heaping T. of miso into the stew and added the flounder and two sliced green onions cut in 1 inch lengths to the stew to poach for a few minutes until the fish was cooked.

Willy joined us for dinner around 7:00 after a four mile hike in the Sandias.

The result was a very interesting dish with a distinctly miso flavored fish and beans that was mild and light.

I opened and poured the Japanese wine we bought on our day trip to Mount Fuji, a Suntory From Farm 2021 Koshu. It was a dry white wine with a slightly pleasant musty flavor.

We enjoyed reacquainting with the flavors we enjoyed on our Japan trip and the day trip we took to Mount Fuji when we bought the 2021 Koshu and ate fried fish for lunch with wine.

We watched a French movie after dinner titled Priceless in anticipation of our trip to France in September.

Willy left after dinner with a couple bags of Rancho Gordo beans Suzette gave him and we went to bed after the movie around 10:00.

Bon Appetit
