July 21, 2024 Lunch - Chicken and cheese sandwiches Dinner - Pita Sandwiches. won the last stage giving him 6 wins this year and a total of 16 wins putting him well on his way to beating Cavendish’s record of 35 wins. Cavendish is a cycling sprinter, and is a prolific winner of individual stages in stage races. Cavendish has won a record 35 Tour de France stages. With 55 Grand Tour stage victories he is third on the all-time list, and his 165 professional victories – as of 19 July 2024 – rank him second of all time. Cavendish is retiring after this tour at the age of 39, so it was great to see him set the all time redid for most stage wins and bitter sweet to see the end of a career and a great cycling era. We then made lunch. Suzette sliced the chicken breast and we toasted baguette slices and spreading Mayo on them and then chicken, onion, and cheese and melting the cheese and then adding tomato slices and lettuce. I drank root beer and Suzette drank white wine. After lunch we reserved an ABNB near Pontevedra, rented a car for the trip, reserved a hotel room in Madrid, and reserved a hotel room in Northern Galicia between San Vicente and Pontevedra after lunch. Basically we planned the rest of our trip to Spain. I then lay down and read and rested until 4:00 when we cleaned the meager crop of garlic and about 1/3 of the dried lavender we harvested. Then we took the ingredients for pita sandwiches, labni, feta cheese, tabouli, meatballs, and pitas out of the fridge. Willy arrived at 7:00 and we made pita sandwiches and Willy fetched the Lentil and sweet potato stew and Suzette heated him a bowl. I

July 21, 2024 Lunch - Chicken and cheese sandwiches. Dinner - Pita Sandwiches

I woke up at 5:45, which turned out to be 45 minutes before the start of Stage 21 of the Tour de France.  Today was a time trial with the last three riders being the top three GC contenders and bettering the last posted time that resulted in no change in the standings. I watched until 10:30 and drank a cup of Tea and two pain au chocolate.

We then drove to the recycling center and recycled bottles and card board and after that stopped at a estate sale on the way home where Suzette bought a set of silver for $5.00 and a mirror for $10.00.

I watched the final six riders when we returned and then the awards ceremonies. It was a great Tour with wonderful competitions. Pogajar won the last stage giving him 6 wins this year and a total of 16 wins putting him well on his way to beating Cavendish’s record of 35 wins.

I opened a recently purchased bottle of Kirkland Chianti Riserva

We watched Who’s feeding Phil in Croatia and then Willy left with stew, pain au chocolates, and a pita.

We watched Grantchester and then read in bed and I blogged this entry.

It was a pleasant day with lots of light delicious food.

Bon Appetit
