July 4, 2023 Lunch - Steak Tacos. Dinner - Pasta with mixed grill of steak, lamb and Spicy Italian Sausage

July 4, 2023 Lunch - Steak Tacos. Dinner - Pasta with mixed grill of steak, lamb and Spicy Italian Sausage

I awakened at 7:30 a.m. and watched the USA coverage of the Tour for a while and then ate a slice of baguette with salami and slices of Onion and Gouda cheese melted

I also ate a bowl of tropical fruit salad with two scoops of yogurt.

It was hot today so I stayed inside while Suzette went to work.

When Suzette returned at 1:00 we discussed lunch and finally decided to make steak tacos as we had discussed yesterday.

Suzette make a lovely Cole slaw with green cabbage, sour cream, onion, and mayonnaise , while I sliced two pieces of steak, a slice of serrano chili, and three slices of onion that Suzette sautéed.  Suzette also steamed four blue corn tortillas wrapped in paper towels in the microwave and sliced an avocado.

Then each of us layered coke slaw, steak, and avocado on two tortillas and ate a lovely lunch outside under the gazebo with the last two glasses of the Spanish La Granja Tempranillo.

After lunch we both napped.  I did nor awaken until 6:00 and was hungry again.

We watched the PBS national news and then made dinner.

Pasta Primavera with three meats

Suzette boiled the inch thick pasta while we chopped ingredients, I chopped the leftover grill steak and lamb chop and a Spicy Italian sausage, and diced two Roma tomatoes, while Suzette chopped onion and a head of broccoli.

While Suzette was cooking the ingredients I went to the basement and fetched a bottle of 2015 Barolo.

Soon the dinner was ready and it was lovely, pasta, meats and a vegetable sautéed in olive oil and butter with a really clean tasting red wine (Trader Joe’s $14.99?).

During and after dinner we watched the PBS special July 4th celebration from Washington until we went outside to watch our neighbor’s fireworks display in 15th St.

We met Lilly, our neighbor, and commended Justin on the fireworks and then went inside.

We watched a Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler mystery murder comedy until 10:30 and then Suzette went to bed.

I stayed up to drink some tea, eat some chocolate halvah, and blog.

Bon Appetit
